In this article, I will tell you what to take with you on a hike from food, namely, how to make the most optimal layout of products. Composing a grocery layout is one of the most important elements of preparing for any hiking trip. If the hike is one-day, then you don’t have to worry about food, you can easily get by with sandwiches.
But if the trip to nature is longer, say, 3-4 days, then you should think about how to make a list of products correctly. So that the weight is small and the diet is varied and nutritious.
So, what to take with you on a hike from food?

Layout weight
In my opinion, the most optimal weight of products per person is 700-800 grams per person per day. Many survivalists determine for themselves much less weight, but here I will not focus on how you can go camping without food at all. I want to talk about such a layout, which will not be very satisfying, but not very hungry either.
Features of the hikers
Another important point that must be taken into account is to take into account the characteristics of the participants in the campaign. Some participants may be vegetarians, some do not eat certain types of food, some have allergies. Of course, for the sake of one participant, it can be quite difficult to redo the entire layout, but it is necessary to do this so as not to complicate the already difficult psychological situation in a difficult campaign.
Diet variety
In order not to eat the same food every day, which is really annoying, the layout should be diversified. Today we ate one thing, tomorrow another, believe me, it’s much more interesting and tastier. It is very important not to forget all sorts of different little things, such as salt, various “nishtyaks” for dinner, coffee for breakfast, spices. This will diversify your layout very well and make the team happy. And it will turn out that on the third day of the trip you will not get any pleasure from food, so do not forget about the diversity of the diet.
Basic product layout
I want to offer you my version of the layout, which you can take note of or use as a base one. It is designed for 10 participants for a 4-day trip. As you can see, the weight of the products is 687 grams per person per day, or 2 kg 470 grams for all 4 days for each. The menu is varied and new every day. There is breakfast, lunch and dinner.
And here is a list of foods that are consumed daily. These are sugar, salt, tea, coffee, mayonnaise, all sorts of sweets and spices.
Complete list of hiking supplies
Here is a complete list of what you need to take with you on your hike. This is just my basic set (weight is in grams), if you wish, you can remove something or add something of your own. From this layout, I completely removed canned food and replaced them with freeze-dried meat. By the way, I have instructions for making dried meat yourself . As a result, the weight of the layout has become less, and in terms of money it came out cheaper. But you can still take canned food, both fish and meat. Each of the participants can supplement this basic set of products with something of their own, take with them what they like.
Well, that's basically all I wanted to say. After the products have been purchased, they should be distributed among the participants and put into backpacks. It would be nice if one of the participants in the campaign played the role of supply manager and controlled the consumption of food. I wish you all a successful trip, if you have your own thoughts about the food layout, leave your wishes in the comments.
